Artist Bio
Elizabeth Walker is a multimedia artist exploring the intersections of identity, memory, and cultural belonging through painting, drawing and digital collage. Born in Zapopan, Mexico, raised I'm Belfast and now based in London. Her practice is deeply informed by the fluidity of moving between geographies and the nuanced emotions embedded in diasporic experiences. Her work translates the personal into the universal, using family photographs and anonymous images as a foundational archive to reconstruct narratives that speak to intimate histories and collective resonance.
Central to her process is the interplay of colour and light. She employs oil paint, ink, graphite and digital collage to investigate dynamic compositions. Visible brushstrokes and textured surfaces emphasise the materiality of memory - how it is shaped, fragmented and reinterpreted over time. By reimagining familial snapshots, she aims to preserve fleeting moments while interrogating the constructed nature of identity. These pieces exist between figuration and abstraction, mirroring the dissonance and harmony of existing within multiple worlds.
Currently developing work through residences with Arts University Bournemouth and Bournemouth Emerging Artist Fringe. She continues to refine a visual language that bridges traditional painting techniques with digital experimentation. Recent exhibitions, such as Connected Grounds at Boscombe Arts Depot and the Axis Graduate Show at Umbrella Gallery, Cardiff, have allowed her to engage audiences in dialogues about displacement and connection.
